Tom Dunne joins his former Seal Team for a 9.6 mile relay swim to raise funds for fellow fallen, wounded and currently serving Seals.  

After 10 Months of training, the swim is on for Tom.

 

OLD SEALS TO SWIM MAUI CHANNEL  On September 3rd - Labor Day - a team of six stubborn old U.S. Navy SEALS will be part of the 39th annual Maui Channel Swim, swimming the 9.6 mile passage between the islands of Lanai and Maui in Hawaii. It was on Maui that the Navy Frogmen, predecessors of today’s SEALS, conducted their final training on their way out to the South Pacific during World War II.       The team, made up of SEALS who are all in their 40’s, 50’s, 60's and 70's and Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans, is dedicating its swim to all those SEALS who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country as well as all who have been wounded and those who are currently serving.  The team has chosen as its name the "Hoo-Yah Hokua SEALS". "Hokua" in Hawaiian means the highest point of the crest of an ocean wave – the point at which the wave touches the sky. And "Hooya" is the SEAL battle-cry which originated somewhere in the SEAL Teams' misty past, from their organizational ancestors – U.S. Navy Underwater Demolition Teams, Combat Demolition Units, Scouts and Raiders and the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) Maritime Units.
