Sign in and sound off. Let all in your class know about what is going on in your life. Maybe, you want to touch base with another classmate and line up your plans with theirs. Or, if you can let everyone know that one of our "long lost" has been found. Whatever it is that you want to communicate we want to hear it. It's good hearing from you!

I am a volunteer for Lifenet which is a non-profit organization that coordinates organ transplantation for the State of Virginia. It was my pleasure to make a presentation on this subject at BHS on December 1. The audience was excellent. We had good discussions and the cadets' appearance was exceptional - very sharp and polished. Nothing like we witnessed at the graduation. Just thought that all of you would like to know that what we witnessed apparently wasn't the norm.

50th Reunion Attendees: Diane & I very much enjoyed having each of you visiting with us for the "ice breaker" Friday afternoon. We appreciate and thank you all for the kind compliments regarding the event that were extended to both of us. We're very pleased that everyone in attendance had a nice time. Our only regret is that everyone doesn't reside closer so we could grab hold of you for a rock'in good time more often. In my opinion, this entire reunion ranked as the best yet. Arthur, Bob Ayres & Bill Bain put lots of effort & manhours into making our 50th the most enjoyable event it was. I extend to all 3 of these guys a big THANK YOU for a job well done. Joe

Hello All: Diane and I are looking forward to having everyone to our house for the "Ice Breaker" Friday, June 8. Our house is at 4308 Hanover Ave. (Look for green/white colors on front door) in middle of the block, if parking is unavailable on our block, there will be ample space on Sauer Ave (cross st. twd school). Just a reminder please, our home is a non smoking residence.

Reference my previous post on the Omni Richmond Hotel: What I did not know is that there is an $18/day parking fee. I found this out by calling the hotel & asking several other questions. Had I known this, I would have picked a different area of the city to stay in! Just as an FYI!

OK, guys.....Just found a GREAT hotel at a FABULOUS price! I used Hotwire.com & got a $259/night room for $102.44/night, which icludes taxes & Hotwire's fee. It's at the Omni Richmond Hotel, 100 South 12th Street, 804-344-7000. It is billed as a "LUXURIOUS" four star hotel! Catch is, you gotta pay up front & the fee IS NOT refundable. The room has EVERYTHING that we want, including free high speed internet access! I used Pay Pal to pay for the room & got accepted IMMEDIATELY! If you want to visit the Omni Richmond Hotel site, go to "https://www.omnihotels.com/FindAHotel/Richmond" This hotel is a little further east than we wanted, but the price is really good! Makes it worth the little extra drive!

FYI, I have done some research on hotel accomodations in Richmond, during the time of the reunion. Let me say that I have travelled far and wide in this great country of ours! The hotel rates in and around Richmond ASTOUND me! I have found ranges anywhere from $59/night to $325/night. Now, the lower end rates are for places like Motel 8, Motel 6, Rodeway, Days Inn & lots of independant motels/hotels. My wife & I feel that we deserve a room that's clean, a king-sized bed, non-smoking, high speed internet access & restaurants close by. For that, you will pay $125/night or better! RIDICULOIUS for Richmond in June! Right now, we are looking at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on West Broad Street, west of Skipwith road @ $152/night for a larger (not suite) hotel room. Hope that someone who has the time can do more research than I & come up with an ACCEPTABLE hotel rate!

Tom, thank you for those well chosen words about the reunion, about Andy, Bill and Bob. It should be a grand occasion, and I too look forward to spending time with those who shared an important and good time in our lives.

I am looking forward to and excited about our 50th class reunion. Our lives have been reshaped dramatically since 1957 and it will be interesting to share these changes with each other. It will be special to have one of our own deliver the graduation address to the BHS class of 2007, especially a classmate who has been so successful. I don't think that Bubby (whoops-old habits are hard to break), Andy, will mind if we all share in the pride of his success. Some special thanks need to be expressed to Bob Ayres and Bill Bain. Bob has worked very hard in organizing and working out the details of our reunion. Those of us who live in the Richmond area or nearby have kept in touch with each other primarily because of the dedication of one classmate - Bill Bain. For some time Bill has been getting us together at local restaurants for lunch about 3 or 4 times a year. His initiative and perseverance should be acknowledged. Bob and Bill have indeed been a "dynamic duo" in working together on our reunion. If any classmate is undecided or contemplating not attending, I urge you to reconsider and attend. What we all shared together as classmates at BHS was special and should be cherished and celebrated as a unique experience in our then young lives. I cannot think of a better way to remember and celebrate that experience than to all come together at the union. I shall be there not only for myself but also for those of our deceased classmates who would have wanted to attend. Whether you have to travel from afar or nearby, please come. There should be a joyous spirit to an event as special as a 50th high school reunion. Let's capture that excitement and enjoy it to the fullest! I'll see you at the reunion.

I was pleased to see that the camera was able to survive the subjects of the various pictures that were taken at Byrams. On the other hand, have Mike Worsham and Joe Lange been expelled from the St. Paul's Gang. It was good to see everybody. Sorry there weren't pictures of everybody who attended. On the other hand that was a pretty sorry picture of Gus. Jim D.

Bob, what a great site! I don't have any pictures that I know of, but I will offer comments from time to time. It is good to hear that you and Nancy and the Ayres' clan is doing so well. Comment: I thought that Gus B. was unaware of the magic of the web and email. Congratulations on bringing him into the world of cyber-communication. Last note: I'm probably more of a Luddite than I would want to admit. In Conclusion: Thank you for the gift of this wonderful website. Jim D.

I am excited to be joining everyone at the 50th Reunion. I am now living in Naples, Florida and Big Canoe, Georgia. Nancy's mother is still living in Richmond so we can do some family and reunion visiting at the same time. I am hoping to make this web site a depository of pictures and videos that will be used with your permission and cooperation to produce a 50th Class Reunion memory DVD. Please dig deep to supply any family or school images over the last 50 years. Call me if you have a question (See 50th Contact List)

Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2007 Cheers! With the start of the school year at hand, the countdown to the Class of 1957 50th reunion and 2007 graduation (June 8, 2007) is in earnest. There have been conversations with class members across the country, including Paul Myatt (Alabama, Colorado, now Germany), Andy Beckstoffer (California), Bob Immig (Colorado), Andy Thacker (Texas), Jim Mehegan (Harrisonburg suburb of Linville), John Kiernon (Tennessee), to mention a few, and gathering their positive thoughts on the reunion. And there has been contact with several members of the St. Gertrude Class of 1957 about the real possibility of combining an event or events during that weekend next June. Get ready! And send your thoughts, suggestions, ideas, etc. for reunion weekend (excluding Friday night, which is reserved for graduation and Class of 1957 reception at school following that event).
